Chennai Super Kings (CSK) enlisted their third win of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 subsequent to overcoming the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the MCA Stadium in Pune. The Chennai-based side won by 13 runs a few shocking showcases by their players on Sunday.

Talking about the game, former India bowler Pragyan Ojha accepts that the generally reliable SRH bowlers had an off day on the field. The Kane Williamson-drove side yielded 202-2 in the first innings. The strong bowling unit was unable to get a wicket until the eighteenth over, and by then the harm was past the time to be fixed.

Notwithstanding the unfortunate bowling show, Pragyan Ojha feels captain Williamson won’t be so stressed. The former spinner said on Cricbuzz:

“SRH usually bowl well, but their entire bowling unit had an off day today. Such days come often. I don’t think, Kane Williamson, who is an experienced captain and has led so many teams, will be disturbed by this.”

Four of the six bowlers utilized by SRH finished with an economy of north of 10. The in-form Umran Malik turned out to be the most costly bowler with a forgettable spell of 0-48. Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s tight spell of 0-22 was the main reprieve for SRH, who experienced their second loss in succession.

Pursuing a mammoth target, SRH were looking great and were kept alive in the game by CSK following a progression of dropped catches. The season’s recurring pattern went on for the reigning champs as they have counted the most number of dropped gets in the competition up to this point.

Thinking that MS Dhoni won’t be impacted by the dropped catches until the players are sticking to the plan, Pragyan Ojha said:

: “Catches being dropped is quite common. But, one thing to see here was the leader was never angry. Unless you are not going according to plan, then it is okay. Dhoni even encouraged Theeksana when he dropped the catch. Just keep working according to the plan, if you keep doing that Dhoni will back you.”

The dropped catches permitted SRH to stay in the challenge from the get-go and even lessen their margin of defeat to only 13 runs.

CSK wasted an opportunity to give their net-run rate (- 0.407) with an immense lift. The 13-run win doesn’t help them out as they actually hold a generally unfortunate figure when contrasted with the top teams.

Accepting that CSK might have wrapped the challenge with a 30-40 run win had they even taken a portion of their chances, former India bowler RP Singh said:

“We have seen teams being unable to qualify just because of margins in the net run rate. CSK would be disappointed with their fielding performance today. Had they taken even 50 percent of their dropped chances, they could have won by 30-40 runs.”

The four-time champs will next confront Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at MCA, Pune on May 4 (Wednesday).
