Ravichandran Ashwin, the Indian off-spinner who is set to begin for Rajasthan Royals against the Sunrisers in their first game, discussed his opponents’ opening-order vacancy in great depth.
The SRH, however, will enter the tournament with a different combination this year, since Warner will no longer be in the opening spot.
The previous edition of the Indian Premier League witnessed Sunrisers Hyderabad finish last in the table (IPL). The squad had issues as well as on and off the field; David Warner, the skipper leading into the 2021 season, had a dropping out with the team management and finally lost his position in the Lineup, with Kane Williamson being selected the new leader.
Warner has been released following the tournament’s finish. The Sunrisers emerged with 23 members in the IPL mega auction, although the team has a somewhat new team structure, they have also put their trust in a handful of players that were part of the team last season.
Ravichandran Ashwin discusses SRH’s possible openers:
Ravichandran Ashwin mentioned this when previewing SRH on his own YouTube channel.
“I don’t think Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi will be the openers. Abhishek Sharma and Kane Williamson, I believe, will be the starters. Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran are also part of the team. As a result, I believe they’ll play both.”
“If they want to play both of them, I’m not sure if Aiden Markram will bat at 4 or 5.” However, I am not certain. In any case, they’ll be our first opponents. I’m not sure who they’ll choose.”
If SRH sees his preview, Ashwin remarked, they might modify their batting lineup. “We’ll never know!” remarked the off-spinner, “they might see our preview performance and change their combination!”
In the first game of the 2022 Indian Premier League, the Rajasthan Royals will face the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
