The 34th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) was played between Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals (DC) and Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on Friday, April 22.

Both the teams were heading into the match with a victory in their previous game as Delhi Capitals decimated Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Rajasthan Royals won a thrilling battle against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals (RR) were able to defeat Delhi Capitals (DC) in a thrilling encounter by 15 runs to win their 5th match of the season.

Earlier, Delhi Capitals won the toss and opted to field first and they fielded the same playing XI from the last game. Also, Rajasthan Royals made no changes to the playing XI.

Khaleel Ahmed opened the attack for the Delhi Capitals and bowled some good line and length to Rajasthan Royals opener Jos Buttler but ended up conceding 2 fours in the over and Shardul Thakur delivered a good second over by bowling 5 dot balls.

Lalit Yadav gave away 3 runs in the 3rd over, Mustafizur Rahman conceded 14 runs in the 4th over, and Lalit bowled another 3-run over but Khaleel Ahmed got smashed for 15 runs in the 6th over and at the end of the powerplay Rajasthan Royals were at 44/0. After the powerplay, Rajasthan Royals openers accelerated the innings and at the end of the 11th over, they were at 104/0.

After that, Jos Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal kept going berserk against the Delhi Capitals bowling unit before Devdutt Padikkal was dismissed by Khaleel Ahmed in the 16th over. Notably, the Rajasthan Royals openers had a huge 155 runs partnership off 91 balls. Devdutt Padikkal scored 54 runs off 35 balls, including 7 fours and 2 sixes.

Meanwhile, Jos Buttler completed his century in the 16th over. He scored 116 runs off 65 balls, including 9 fours and 9 sixes before getting dismissed by Mustafizur Rahman in the 19th over.

In the end, Sanju Samson played an astonishing 46 runs knock off 19 balls, including 5 fours and 3 sixes, and helped Rajasthan Royals (RR) post 222/2 on the board.

Chasing the target, Prithvi Shaw and David Warner were off to a flying start but Prasidh Krishna broke the 43 runs partnership by dismissing David Warner in the 5th over for 28.

On the 1st ball of the 5th over Ravichandran Ashwin cleaned up Sarfaraz Khan for 1. Also, Ashwin bagged his second wicket by dismissing Prithvi Shaw for 37 runs in the 10th over. Rishabh Pant scored 44 runs off 24 balls, including 4 fours and 2 sixes, before getting dismissed by Prasidh Krishna in the 12th over.

In the end, Lalit Yadav and Rovman Powell played explosive knocks but it was not enough for Delhi Capitals (DC) to win the match.
