IPL 2022: Updated Points Table, Orange Cap and Purple Cap After Match 40 GT vs SRH

Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan played blinders to take Gujarat Titans home in a game which looked lost at one point for them. In a close game, GT came on top and moved to the top of the table of IPL 2022. They have lost just one game this season.
Earlier in the day Hardik Pandya won the toss and chose to field first. GT got a good start with the ball as Mohammad Shami removed Kane Williamson and Rahul Tripathi in the powerplay itself. But then Abhishek Sharma and Aiden Markram formed a great partnership in the middle as they put on 96 runs for the third wicket. Sharma scored 65 while Markram made 56 runs. Nicholas Pooran and Washington Sundar couldn’t do much they both got out for 3 runs each.

Shashank Singh who has been in the side for the last 6 games but didn’t get to bat in previous games finally got to bat and he grabbed his chances with both hands as he hit three sixes in the last over against Lockie Ferguson to take SRH’s total to 195 runs. Rashid Khan went for 45 runs and could not pick up a wicket while Ferguson went for over 50 runs.
Gujarat Titans started their chase well as they got to their first 50 run opening partnership of the season. But then Umran Malik came into the bowl with his sheering pace and got rid of Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya in quick succession.

Wriddhiman Saha was going at a great rate but Malik bowled a 153 KMPH yorker and got rid of him as he scored a valuable 68 for his team.
Malik then returned in the 16th over and picked up the wickets of David Miller and Abhinav Manohar to bag his first five-wicket haul in IPL. But brilliant hitting down the order from Rashid Khan and Rahul Tewatia took GT home when they needed 3 runs off the last ball.
