Gujarat Titans defeated Lucknow Super Giants for the second time in IPL 2022 as they beat them by 64 runs at the MCA stadium in Pune. GT have become the first team to officially qualify for the playoffs.

It was a low scoring game as GT had scored only 144 runs in their first innings but LSG couldn’t chase down the score as they bundled out for just 82 runs.

Batting first, GT on the back of Shubman Gill’s 4th fifty of the season scored 144 runs in the first innings. None of the other GT batters could manage anything substantial. Rahul Tewatia thought, in the end, scored some crucial runs. He scored more than 10 runs in the last over against Jason Holder which helped GT post a par total on the day. Mohsin Khan and Avesh Khan were the pick of the bowlers for LSG in the first innings.

LSG never got going in their chase as they initially lost wickets to the pacers and then GT’s spinners put a web around. Especially Rashid Khan who took 4 wickets in the middle. Sai Kishore also got 2 wickets in his debut IPL game. Khan has now 450 t20 wickets in his career.

IPL 2022: Updated Points Table Orange Cap and Purple Cap After Match 57 LSG vs GT

Gujarat Titans in their very first season became the first team to officially qualify for the playoffs. They now officially have ‘Q’ in front of their name on the points table. While LSG even after losing the game, still sit on the 2nd spot.

Yuzvendra Chahal is at the top of the charts. There were no changes in the list.
