Lucknow Super Giants’ new recruit Karan Sharma has said that the former Indian skipper Virat Kohli is his idol and he has looked up to Kohli since the very beginning of his career.

Uttar Pradesh’s young all-rounder Karan Sharma was bought by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction for INR 20 lakh. He will be playing under the leadership of KL Rahul and in the presence of some of the greatest cricketing minds like Andy Flower and Gautam Gambhir.

Meanwhile, Karan has said that his batting technique is very similar to his idol Virat Kohli’s batting technique as they don’t play unconventional shots.

Yes he (Kohli) has been my idol and since the beginning, I always look up to him, he is the greatest and I feel our batting is quite similar, we don’t play with an unconventional way we always stick to our strength so I always look up to him how he approaches his inning and how he changes his gears with situations,” Karan told News18.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 is all set to begin from March 26 and all the games of the league stage will be played in Maharashtra across 4 different venues including Wankhede Stadium, Dy Patil Stadium, Brabourne Stadium and Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium.

20 matches each will be played at the Wankhede Stadium and the Dy Patil Stadium while 15 games each will be played at the Brabourne Stadium and the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium. Also, the games will be held in front of 25% of the crowd.

Meanwhile, Karan said that he would have loved to play in front of the Lucknow crowd in his debut season. He added that he anyway is excited to play wherever and whenever he gets an opportunity.

“Obviously, in front of our home crowd would have been very exciting and cheering but it’s not in our hands to control where we play the matches but still it’s IPL and it will be very exciting wherever we’ll play,” he told News18.

KL Rahul and co. will begin their Indian Premier League 2022 campaign with the battle against Gujarat Titans on March 28 at the Wankhede Stadium.
