IPL 2022: Virender Sehwag Expresses Surprise At IPL 2022 Playoffs Line-up Consisting Of GT, RR, LSG, RCB

Former India National Cricket Team opener Virender Sehwag has expressed surprise at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 playoffs line-up consisting of Gujarat Titans, Rajasthan Royals, Lucknow Super Giants, and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The table-toppers Gujarat Titans became the first team to qualify for the Indian Premier League 2022 playoffs and later they were joined by Rajasthan Royals, Lucknow Super Giants, and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Qualifier 1 of the cash-rich league will see the battle between Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Tuesday, May 24.

In the Eliminator, Lucknow Super Giants will lock horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore on Wednesday, May 25 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Meanwhile, Sehwag has said that he wouldn’t have believed if someone, at the start of the tournament, had told him that GT, RR, LSG and RCB would qualify for the playoffs. He said:

“I wouldn’t have believed if someone would have told me that Gujarat Titans, Rajasthan Royals, Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore would reach the playoffs.”

Former India opener further said that he didn’t predict Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore to qualify for the IPL 2022 playoffs and amongst the two newcomers – Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans – he had picked only one team to make it to the playoffs.

“I think this reality dawned upon us when these four teams played a few matches and the way they played the matches. We started believing that they too have a chance.

“I don’t think I predicted this line-up either. Rajasthan and Bangalore were definitely not among my picks and perhaps out of the two new teams I might have picked one.

“I am surprised for sure but the best four teams of this season are playing in the playoffs,” Sehwag summed up on Cricbuzz Live.
