IPL 2022: 'We Were Weak And Lacking Game Awareness'- Gautam Gambhir Tells The LSG Players

Gautam Gambhir isn’t one to mince words. Gambhir delivered a scathing and harsh appraisal of the Lucknow Super Giants’ huge loss to Gujarat Titans in a top-of-the-table showdown at the MCA Stadium in Pune on Tuesday night.
After their 62-run loss, Gambhir was spotted confronting the Lucknow Super Giants team in the changing room.
Gujarat Titans made it to the IPL 2022 playoffs for the first time following a fantastic bowling performance on a sluggish wicket that was not conducive to complementary strokes and smashing sixes. However, their batting faltered, as the newcomers were bowled out for 82 in just 13.5 overs.
Captain Rahul and his opening partner Quinton de Kock both had bad days, while the middle order batsmen Krunal Pandya, Ayush Badoni, and Marcus Stoinis all struggled.
While Mohammed Shami and Yash Dayal, a youthful left-arm bowler, wrecked the new ball, vice-captain Rashid Khan spun a web around the Lucknow hitters. He concluded with 4/24, his best IPL numbers, while rookie Sai Kishore had 2/7.
‘One team has to win, one team has to lose’: Gautam Gambhir
“It’s okay to lose. It’s perfect. One team must win and the other must lose. There are numerous issues with giving up. I thought we had given up today. “We were weak,” Gambhir said in a video released by the franchise, while the players, including captain KL Rahul, listened intently.
“In a tournament like the IPL or in sports, weak has no place.” That is the issue. We’ve beaten teams in this competition, and we’ve played some extremely good teams. But today, I thought, we lacked that crucial game sense.
“We anticipated them to bowl well because we knew they bowled well. We compete against international bowlers in a world-class tournament. That is why we play the game: to challenge ourselves “Added Gambhir.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, the Lucknow Super Giants performed well to restrict the Gujarat Titans to 144 for 4 in 20 overs.
