Former Indian player Ajay Jadeja said Chennai Super Kings (CSK) cannot think beyond MS Dhoni.

On Friday, CSK’s disappointing journey in IPL 2022 came to an end with the five-wicket defeat to Rajasthan Royals in Mumbai.

MS Dhoni confirms to play next IPL season for CSK

There was something for CSK fans to pump their excitement up as Dhoni confirmed to play next season for the four-time IPL champions.

The CSK iconic player intends to play in front of the home crowd at the MA Chidambaram Stadium before he can hang up the boots.

Definitely (will play next IPL season). It’s a simple reason; it will be unfair to not play in Chennai and say thank you. Mumbai is one place, whereas a team and as an individual I have got a lot of love and affection. But it wouldn’t be nice to the CSK fans.

And also, hopefully, next year there will be an opportunity where the teams will be travelling so it will be a like thank you to all the different places where we will be playing games at different venues,” Dhoni told the official broadcasters during the toss for RR vs CSK fixture on Friday.

You cannot imagine CSK without MS Dhoni: Ajay Jadeja

Dhoni led CSK in 219 matches having won 132 and lost 85 games in more than 12 seasons. Under his astute leadership, CSK appeared in nine IPL final matches and bagged four titles (2010, 2011, 2018 & 2021).

Ahead of IPL 2022, Dhoni passed the leadership duties to all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Just after six losses in eight games and Jadeja’s dip in form, Dhoni was reinstated as CSK skipper.

Ajay Jadeja said that one cannot imagine CSK playing in IPL without Dhoni’s services and guidance.

You cannot imagine CSK without MS Dhoni. We have seen that a lot of the teams have changed over the years but Dhoni has been with the side right from the team’s inception. You cannot think beyond Dhoni. They tried changing things by handing the captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja but we all saw what happened,” Jadeja said on Cricbuzz.

Dhoni scored 232 runs in 13 innings, striking at 123.4 and hit Jaydev Unadkat for 16 runs in last four balls of the game to write another finishing tale of his storied career.
