IPL 2022 auction saw some terrific signings in the two-day event that had some interruptions after the regular auctioneer Hugh Edmeades collapsed on the first day due to Postural Hypotension.
A total of 204 players were sold in the span of two days aggregating a sum of 551.7 crores as 10 teams were left with content to build up a formidable squad.
However, there was also a disappointment as many great names didn’t manage to find a buyer like Suresh Raina, who scored 5528 runs from 205 IPL matches went unsold.
Raina played for Chennai Super Kings and remains to be their highest run-scorer in the tournament. The left-handed batter just missed one season in 2020 due to personal reasons.
Let us look at the five most expensive purchases in the IPL 2022 mega auction.

5) Shardul Thakur (10.75 crores)
Thakur brings a lot of qualities along with him on the table, he can bowl in the middle overs and hold runs in the slog overs. He can chip in to get breakthroughs for his team and play the role of a finisher lower down the batting order.
Thakur played just one game for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in 2015 against Delhi Daredevils (now Capitals). He played 12 matches for Rising Pune Super Giant in IPL 2017 before shifting to CSK where he played four seasons and won two titles.
Thakur was bought by Delhi Capitals for 10.75 crores in the IPL 2022 auction. Wanindu Hasaranga (RCB) , Harshal Patel (RCB) and Nicholas Pooran (SRH) were sold at the similar price tag.
