IPL 2022: IPL Franchises Wanted Chris Gayle To Be In Auction Pool- Reports

West Indian batting legend Chris Gayle didn’t register his name for the IPL 2022 mega auction which is scheduled to take place on February 12 & 13 in Bengaluru.
Although the reason behind the same is unknown, it has been revealed that his former franchises wanted him to be in the pool. Gayle has played for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), and Punjab Kings (PBKS).
As per a report in Cricbuzz, these former employers wanted Gayle to be in the auction. Although his performances have deteriorated with time, Gayle remains one of the biggest attractions in the IPL.

Unfortunately, it seems as though the Universe Boss is now taking a break from the cash-rich league. Nevertheless, his involvement in making the league as big as it is will never be forgotten.
Notable names missing apart from Chris Gayle
Apart from Gayle, Ben Stokes and Joe Root have also opted to stay away from the auction. They decided to give their undivided attention to the English county cricket and improve themselves after a debacle in the Ashes series.

Jofra Archer, on the other hand, put himself in at a base price of INR 2 cr but will only be available to the team that picks him up from the IPL 2023 season onwards.
Similarly, Sam Curran and Mitchell Starc will also focus on national duties. The latter played for RCB a few seasons ago but has consistently stayed away from the league ever since.
