KKR vs PBKS: Chris Lynn has backed Punjab Kings’ attacking batting approach in the Indian Premier League 2022. The Kings’ chased down Royal Challengers Bangalore’s mammoth 205 with an over to spare. Their attacking batting approach meant that they were always close to the required run rate.

The explosive batting unit of Punjab led by Mayank Agarwal went about their business with the get-go against RCB as both Mayank and Shikhar Dhawan scored quickly in the powerplay. Even when Punjab lost wickets, they continued with their attacking approach as the likes of Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Odean Smith and Shahrukh Khan scored at a massive pace.

Punjab Kings Will Play Attacking Brand of Cricket

Chris Lynn liked Punjab’s approach as he said, “I have been in those changing rooms, we usually aim for the big overs. The team that has the most big overs, ones over 15 runs, generally wins the match. We are not cricketers, we are entertainers. I want to see plenty of sixes and plenty of fours. So, keep going Punjab.”

There is no reason to believe that Punjab would stop playing this brand of cricket as they have picked their team in the auctions keeping this in mind. Jonny Bairstow is yet to join the squad, his return is sure to bolster the already explosive Punjab batting lineup.

Wasim Jaffer who was associated with the Punjab franchise till last season also believes that the Kings’ would continue with the same approach irrespective of the opposition as Anil Kumble, the Punjab Kings’ coach, encourages the players to play an aggressive brand of cricket.

Punjab Kings invested heavily in the likes of Liam Livingstone, Jonny Bairstow, Shahrukh Khan, and Odean Smith in the auctions so they would hope that all these players will play up to their full potential and continue to dominate opposition bowlers.

Odean Smith playing in his first IPL game made a quickfire 25 runs from 8 balls showing his prowess with the bat. The franchise would hope that Smith continues this form throughout the tournament. Punjab will face better bowling lineups than the RCB’s as the league progresses so the team would want its batters to continue to show the same temperament and skills.
