KKR vs SRH: We Wanted To Use Our Resources Upfront - Kane Williamson After 54-run Loss To KKR
Sunrisers Hyderabad started the season with two losses but they bounced back in drastic fashion as they won 5 games on the trot.
But now they have lost 5 games on the trot and are now facing a certain early exit from the tournament. Kane Williamson was disappointed with the 5th straight loss. He also expressed his discontent with his own bad form after the game.
It Was A Strong Performance By KKR: Kane Williamson
This loss means they still have just 10 points from 12 games and even if they win their last two games it won’t guarantee them a spot in the final-4.
In earlier games, SRH’s bowlers were flat as they conceded more than 180 runs on three occasions. Their batters couldn’t stand up either as they failed to chase the big targets.
For the game against KKR, T Natarajan, Marco Jansen and Washington Sundar were back and SRH did well to restrict KKR to just 177 but then their batters couldn’t really get going. Apart from Abhishek Sharma who scored 43 runs off 28 balls, no other SRH batter could score freely.
Andre Russell was the chief destroyer as he hit 49 runs including 20 runs in the final over. He also picked up 3 wickets with the ball.
Kane Willaimson after the game said, “I mean largely the first half was good. Dre Russ is always a threat. Showed his class. We tried to create partnerships but KKR were really good. We have been struggling with creating momentum in the last few games. Sundar stepped up in the last over.”
Using our resources a little early didn’t work for us today. We wanted to get off to a good start. We wanted to get some momentum. There were glimpses and signs but wasn’t to be. The run rate got up and we were not able to pull it back. The game teaches us lessons and I am learning them right now”, he further added.
SRH now need to win their last two games at any cost to be in contention for a spot in the playoffs.
