The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder achieved this remarkable milestone in the 7th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 against KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai on Thursday, March 31. In the match, he bowled 4 overs and gave away 35 runs at an economy of 8.75 and bagged a crucial wicket of Deepak Hooda in the crucial stage of the match.

Dwayne Bravo overtook legendary Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga’s tally of 170 wickets to become the leading wicket-taker in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Lasith Malinga, who played between 2009-2019 for Mumbai Indians (MI), held the top spot in the Indian Premier League (IPL) wicket-takers list for a very long time. Sri Lanka pacer had picked 170 IPL wickets in just 122 games at an average of 19.79, an economy of 7.14, and a strike rate of 16.6, including 6 four-wicket hauls and one five-wicket haul.

Meanwhile, Dwayne Bravo in 153 Indian Premier League games has bowled 493.3 overs and has picked up 171 wickets at an average of 24.07, an economy of 8.34, and a strike rate of 17.3, including 2 four-wicket hauls.

Also, Bravo in his legendary Indian Premier League career has won the purple cap for taking the highest wickets in the tournament twice. He won his first purple cap in 2013 for picking up 32 wickets in 18 games and won his second purple cap in 2015 for picking up 26 wickets in 16 games.
