Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) registered their first points in the IPL 2022 season in style. They chased down a target of 211 to defeat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by six wickets on Thursday.

Batting first, CSK put on 210 on the board. Robin Uthappa top-scored with a fifty while there were major contributions from Shivam Dube, who scored 49, and Moeen Ali, who smashed his way to 22-ball 35.

Ravi Bishnoi did the star turn with the ball for LSG as he picked up two wickets while conceding just 24 runs. Avesh Khan and Andrew Tye chipped in with two wickets apiece.

In response, Lucknow was off to the perfect possible start. Their openers, KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock put on 99 runs inside the first ten overs. Rahul fell in his quest to up the ante further.

De Kock scored 61 before being dismissed. The responsibility of the run chase then landed on Evin Lewis’ shoulders, and he didn’t disappoint. The West Indian smashed a 23-ball 55 studded with six fours and three maximums.

On the back of his knock, Lucknow was able to get over the line and register their first points in the IPL. As for CSK, it is the first-ever instance in IPL history where they have lost their first two games.
