LSG vs KKR: KL Rahul Makes Bowlers Commit Mistakes, Plays With Their Minds- Suresh Raina

Former India cricketer Suresh Raina praised Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain KL Rahul and said that he is in the best phase of his career because of the positive mindset with which he’s batting in the IPL 2022.

KL Rahul is having a superb Indian Premier League edition 15 as he is not only leading the Lucknow Super Giants, who are front-runners in the contention of playoffs qualification, but he is also the second-highest run-getter in the tournament. Overall it has been an excellent tournament for Rahul, as he is leading his team by example to his teammates.

LSG has won 7 matches out of 10 played and has 14 points. They need two more wins in the four remaining matches to make it into the final four.

He Plays With The Mind Of The Bowlers And Traps Them: Suresh Raina On KL Rahul

KL Rahul has made 451 runs in 10 matches in IPL 2022 with two centuries. He has identical scores of 103*, both coming against Mumbai Indians this season. He averages 56.37 and has a strike rate of 145.01. He has hit 20 sixes and 38 fours so far.

Speaking on ‘Cricket Live’ on Star Sports, Raina said: “KL (Rahul) is in the best mindset right now, he’s batting with a very positive mindset. He is playing some amazing shots which proves that he is in the best phase of his career. He is trying a few new things as well this season (in his batting).

He plays with the mind of the bowlers and traps them. He forces the bowlers to bowl in the areas which are his strong zones and constructs his innings accordingly. It is really commendable to see him bat like this.”

This is part of KL Rahul’s amazing form in the Indian Premier League. He has had a great outing in the tournament since the 2018 edition when he made 659 runs in 14 matches. He followed that up with 593 runs in IPL 2019, 670 runs in IPL 2020, and 626 runs in IPL 2021. He led the Punjab Kings in IPL 2020 and 2021.

He Can Be Aggressive From The Word Go: Mohammad Kaif On Kl Rahul

Former Indian cricketer Mohammed Kaif believes Rahul is very well capable of playing aggressive shots from the start of his innings but he’s restricting his nature to ensure he plays long and impactful knocks in the tournament.

He said: “KL Rahul is trying to play captaincy innings this year. He can be aggressive from the word go and he’s capable of starting his innings with a six but he is curbing his instincts in order to play long and impactful knocks. He has all the shots in his arsenal, he can play sweep shots, he can pull shots, and he plays those cut shots brilliantly but the reason why he’s taking his time into the middle is to prolong his innings. He can take risks as there are many good batsmen in his team but he’s looking to bat with the responsibility and lead his side from the front.”
