Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Rohit Sharma was stunned as his side was subjected to its 7th defeat in a row in the IPL 2022 season. It is now the worst-ever start by a franchise in the history of the IPL.

The El Clasico boiled down to the last over with CSK needing 17 runs to win the game. Jaydev Unadkat bowling the final over conceded just 1 run in the first two balls.

However, the batter standing at the other end was none other than MS Dhoni. The best finisher in the game once again delivered, smashing 6,4,2,4 off the last 4 balls to hand CSK their second win of the season.

In the end, it was a great fight from us. We were right in the game. After batting not so well, I thought the bowlers kept us in the game all through. But in the end, we all know how calming MS Dhoni can be and he took them home.”

It’s hard to put a finger on that [top order problems]. If you lose three or a couple of wickets upfront, it’s always going to be tough. You’re always playing that catching [up] game,” Rohit said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

MI was on top during the run chase. They had 42 runs to defend in the final 3 overs but Dhoni alongside Dwaine Pretorius ensured that they got home in the final over of the game.

But in the end, we got to a very reasonable target where we thought with the ball we could put them under pressure. I thought till the last over, we had them under pressure. But in the end, MS and Pretorius were quite calm and got them home. We want to back ourselves with the ball.”

Whatever we have in front of us, we back ourselves to defend it. The pitch was good. We could have got more runs there, but as I said we lost a few wickets upfront and it was always going to be hard after that to play freely,” Rohit said.
