MI vs CSK: "You Can't Keep Your Ego Aside" Irfan Pathan On Kieron Pollard's Dismissal Against CSK

Kieron Pollard’s dismissal in Friday night’s IPL 2022 match between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) was most likely due to his ego, as per Irfan Pathan.
Before succumbing to Maheesh Theekshana, Pollard scored 14 runs, along with a four and a six. The big-hitting Trinidadian smashed the mystery Sri Lankan spinner right in the throat of Shivam Dube, who had been strategically placed close to the sightscreen for that shot.
Kieron Pollard was dismissed, and Irfan Pathan was asked about it. He replied, ”
“His (Pollard’s) strength is hitting right down the middle of the ground. As a result, the fielder is positioned straight. He is asked to hit across, but he refuses and prefers to hit straight. You can’t seem to put your ego aside to a certain extent.”
In the IPL 2010 final, Pollard was also victimized by MS Dhoni’s odd field position. In that instance, the MI all-rounder hit Albie Morkel straight to Matthew Hayden, who was stationed at straightish mid-off.

Despite Kieron Pollard admitting that he fell into CSK’s trap, the former India all-rounder did recognize that the recently retired West Indian limited-overs skipper is known for clearing fielders placed on the boundary line. Irfan Pathan stated, ”
“You say to yourself, “You have built a trap, and I will display my might,” as you grow as a player, play more, and win more matches. He tries to demonstrate his strength by hitting a straight ball down the ground, but he loses his wicket.”
“However, he most likely believes that because he hits sixes when the fielder is situated at long-on or long-off, he can hit here as well.”
In the 17th over, Pollard’s dismissal lowered the Mumbai Indians’ total to 111/6. Despite managing to score 155 runs, CSK chased down the mark, with Dhoni smashing 16 runs off the final four deliveries.
