MI vs KKR: Shreyas Iyer Reveals KKR CEO Venky Mysore Is Also Involved In Selecting Playing XI

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Shreyas Iyer has made a big revelation that the CEO of Kolkata Knight Riders, Venky Mysore, at times, is also involved in the selection of the playing XI.

Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Mumbai Indians by 52 runs in the 56th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai on Monday, May 9. Also, KKR registered their 5th win of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 and their playoffs hopes are still alive.

Meanwhile, during the post-match presentation ceremony, Shreyas Iyer revealed that along with the coaches the KKR CEO Mysore is also involved in the team selection process.

“Coach and at times, CEO is also obviously involved in team selections. Each and every player takes it well, and they have put in their best efforts,” he said.

“The win was comprehensive, and when I spoke to the players, they were pumped up to win the game today. I’m not satisfied (totally) but want to maintain this,” he added.

Venkatesh Iyer, who returned to playing XI in the game against Mumbai Indians, scored 43 runs off 24 balls, including 3 fours and 4 sixes.

Speaking after the match, Venkatesh Iyer said that he felt good to contribute to the team’s win in all three departments. He asserted:

“It was good, coming back (after getting dropped) and opening the innings. Feels good, when the team wins you naturally feel happy. It’s important to contribute, with the bat, or ball or in the field.”

He added that he makes sure he does whatever job he is offered by skipper Shreyas Iyer. Venkatesh Iyer also said that his intent is always positive and aggressive and sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. He elaborated:

“ Fielding is very important for me and so is bowling. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a lot of overs, but whatever overs I get, I ensure I do the job that the captain wants me to do. It’s my job to go out there and give my team a good start.”

“My intent is always positive and aggressive, sometimes it comes off, sometimes it doesn’t. With the middle order, we have it’s important to have a good start so that they (other batters) can come in and contribute.”
