Rajasthan Royals opener Jos Buttler scored his second IPL century in match 9 of the IPL 2022 at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai. Buttler scored the first century of IPL 2022. Rohit Sharma won the toss and asked the Royals to bat first, a decision which he might repent at the end of the game. Buttler looked set from the get to go and relished his opportunity at the top of the order.
Jos Buttler started off his innings by taking Basil Thampi for 26 runs off his very first over. Spinners and seamers alike he hit them to all corners of the park. After Yashasvi Jaiswal (1) was dismissed earlier, Buttler did not change his approach and took the Mumbai bowlers head-on. He go to his second IPL ton with a scratchy shot as it took the edge of the bat and he ran through for a single. He hit 11 four and five sixes in his heroic knock. Buttler is also the holder of the Orange Cap for now.

Jos Buttler’s skills to hit the white ball are simply unbelievable…creates angles, plays the field…and often doesn’t even bother about the fielders in the deep, for he deposits the ball 10 rows back. #IPL2022 #MIvRR

Buttler after getting to his century took a backseat allowing Shimron Hetmyer to do the scoring and the hitting. The southpaw scored 26 off Kieron Pollard who bowled the 17th over of the Royals innings. Soon after Buttler got to his ton, Hetmyer was dismissed off the very next ball as he was dismissed for 35 adding a 53-run stand with Buttler. The right-hander was dismissed just after he reached his 100 by Jasprit Bumrah who rattled his stumps.
