Mumbai Indians are the only team this season who are eluded of a win. The 5-time IPL champions have played 6 matches and lost all of them. One more loss will result in early elimination from the playoffs race. Skipper Rohit Sharma is completely out of touch and his bowlers including pacer Jasprit Bumrah have been under the pump in almost every game.

Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings are two of the most successful teams in IPL history, however, this season has been nothing but a nightmare for the two teams. MI is yet to get going on the points table, while on the other hand, CSK has managed only a solitary win from 6 games so far. Both teams are in desperate need of a win.

For Mumbai Indians, big names like Kieron Pollard, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ishan Kishan have failed miserably. Dewald Brevis from the last two games, and the evergreen Suryakumar Yadav have been the only positives for a struggling Mumbai Indians outfit so far.

Record IPL champions Mumbai Indians occupy the last- 10th place in the points table as they are the only team who hasn’t registered a single point. Their net run-rate reads –1.048, and only a miracle can take them through to the playoffs now, with eight out of eight wins needed.

Mumbai Indians have established themselves to be the most successful team in IPL history. They have completely dominated the opposition in the last few seasons winning the trophy in consecutive years in 2019 and 2020. They also won the title earlier in 2013, 2015, and 2017. The story is completely different this season as the two teams find themselves at the bottom of the points table.

The game between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings has often been termed the clash of the titans due to their previous rivalry in the league. It is also the most anticipated clash of the league every year attracting large numbers of fans. The two powerhouses will face each other on April 21, 2022, at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

Both teams have played a total of 32 games in IPL so far. In these games, MI has been successful in winning 19 matches while CSK has won 13 games. In the UAE leg of IPL 2021, CSK and MI locked horns at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai and the MS Dhoni-led side emerged victorious by 20 runs. Mumbai Indians had defeated CSK by four wickets in the first half of IPL 2021 in India.

In the T20 games held between these two sides, Suresh Raina scored the most runs (736) followed by Rohit Sharma (693) and MS Dhoni (646). Among the current bowlers playing in these teams, Dwayne Bravo has picked up the most wickets (35) followed by Ravindra Jadeja (18).

CSK and MI last met at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai in the second phase of IPL 2021 held in UAE. It was a thrilling contest as several momentum shifts were witnessed in the game.

Then CSK skipper MS Dhoni elected to bat after winning the toss but the decision seemed terrible at first. MI pacers ran through CSK’s top order as the likes of Faf du Plessis and Moeen Ali bagged ducks. Nevertheless, young opener Ruturaj Gaikwad scored a 58-ball 88 as CSK posted 156/6.

Chasing the tricky total, MI lost wickets at regular intervals and never looked in the hunt. Saurabh Tiwary did score a valiant half-century to keep his side alive in the game. However, his efforts could only narrow down the margin of defeat. As a result, the four-time champions CSK walked away with a 20-run triumph.
