Star Delhi Capitals (DC) spin bowling all-rounder Axar Patel has become only the second left-arm spinner after veteran left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja, who has picked 132 IPL wickets, to bag 100 wickets in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The DC left-arm spinner accomplished this milestone in the 64th match of the Indian Premier League 2022 that was played between Mayank Agarwal-led Punjab Kings and Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai on Monday.
Axar, who was one of the four players retained by the Delhi Capitals (DC) ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, cleaned up Punjab Kings captain Mayank Agarwal for a duck in the match with a beautiful delivery and then he dismissed all-rounder Rishi Dhawan for 4.
Overall, he gave away just 14 runs in his 4-over quota by dismissing 2 Punjab Kings players. Also, Delhi Capitals won the match by 17 runs to inch closer to the Indian Premier League 2022 playoffs berth.
Axar Patel Becomes Only 17th Player To Reach 100 IPL Wickets Landmark
Axar Patel, who made his Indian Premier League debut in 2014, has become only the 17th player in the history of the marquee T20 league to bag over 100 wickets.
He achieved the 101 wickets milestone in 121 games, and he has picked his wickets at an average of 30.27, an economy of 7.24, and a strike rate of 25.10.
Also, during the clash against Punjab Kings Axar became only the 4th Player to score 1000 runs and pick 100 wickets in the IPL.
