Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Hardik Pandya lavished praise on his fellow teammate, Rahul Tewatia after he did the unthinkable against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Friday at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

Tewatia had walked in after GT lost Hardik in the final over. He faced just 3 deliveries but smashed two sixes in the last two balls off Odean Smith and took his team to their third consecutive win in the IPL 2022 season.

With the kind of ups and downs that happen, I have become neutral. Hats off to Tewatia. It is difficult to go out there and hit, and to do it under this pressure is great. It was Kings’ game, I have sympathy for them.

Gill is telling everybody that he is there. A lot of credit goes to Sai as well for that partnership. It kept us in the game. I am going to get better with every game. I am getting tired as I’m not used to bowling four overs. But I’m getting better,” Hardik said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

GT was in the driver’s seat for most of the run chase with Shubman Gill smashing the bowlers all around the park. He looked well set to score his maiden century but faltered when he was just 4 runs shy of the landmark.

Nevertheless, he will be happy to have contributed to the team and helped them get over the line. With the win, Gujarat continues to be the only undefeated team in the season so far.

Final scores:

PBKS – 189/9 in 20 overs
GT – 190/4 in 20 overs
