Gujarat Titans (GT) all-rounder Rahul Tewatia pulled a rabbit out of the hat on Friday and it once again happened to be against a Punjab Kings (PBKS) team.
During GT’s run chase of 190, they needed 19 runs off the final over entrusted to Odean Smith by PBKS skipper, Mayank Agarwal. So far, Odean has had a terrible time with the ball in the IPL 2022 season.
However, PBKS was out of options and Odean was the only choice. At the other end were Tewatia and David Miller, the latter who was just involved in a run-out of the skipper, Hardik Pandya.
The first four balls from Odean were on point and bowled to the field. Only 7 runs came off it, and it was down to 12 runs off the final two balls with Tewatia on strike.
On any given day, it is pretty impossible, especially at the highest level of the game. However, Tewatia was in no mood to go through just another day and he made another West Indian bowler for Punjab Kings (PBKS) his victim.
He smashed the final two slot balls over deep mid-wicket to seal GT’s 3rd win on the trot and establish his credentials as a proper finisher in the shortest format of the game.
