Piyush Chawla, a former Indian leg-spinner, has given his evaluation of the Punjab Kings’ batting unit before their match against the Lucknow Super Giants. In IPL 2022, Chawla feels captain Mayank Agarwal wants to improve with the batting and score runs.

Agarwal has only 136 runs in seven games so far this season, averaging 19.43 and scoring one fifty. The right-handed hitter has three single-figure scores, with his best being 52 against the Mumbai Indians in Pune.

Shikhar Dhawan’s steadiness over the last two to three years has been noted by Chawla. Mayank Agarwal, on the other hand, he believes, should contribute significantly with the bat. He stated, ”

“Shikhar Dhawan is an underestimated player since he has scored a ton of runs in the last two or three years. He has exceptional communication skills. Except for one knock, Mayank Agarwal’s batting hasn’t done much for him; hence, he must perform well.”

“He needs to consider how he might help the team’s cause. He is the captain, so he naturally has a lot on his mind; yet, he must bat well.”

The PBKS middle-order has yet to demonstrate its effectiveness: Piyush Chawla

Piyush Chawla believes Bhanuka Rajapaksa is ideally equipped to bat at number three than Jonny Bairstow. He also encouraged Jitesh Sharma to demonstrate his talent, but he cautioned the keeper-batter not to rush. He continued, ”

“The middle of the order has yet to establish his worth. Jitesh Sharma gave a hint, but the real knock is still to come. Sharma has shown in domestic cricket that he can play some big innings. As he appears to be in a rush, he must trust and believe in himself.”

Piyush Chawla continued, “Shahrukh Khan had to be dropped because he won’t feature to be in excellent shape. At the midway mark of the competition, the middle order has not yet seemed resolved. As a result, they must look for alternatives and an ideal starting eleven.”

The Punjab Kings will take against the Lucknow Super Giants on Friday.
