PBKS vs RCB: Virat Kohli And Faf du Plessis Enthusiastic For 22-Year-Old Anuj Rawat's Breakthrough Season Possibilities At RCB

Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis both described Anuj Rawat as an “exciting talent” for the 2022  season.

Faf du Plessis, who was purchased by the franchise for INR 7 crore in the blockbuster auction preceding the competition, will lead the RCB into the tournament.

Du Plessis took over as captain from Virat Kohli, who had stepped down at the end of the previous season.

In the build-up to the team’s first game against PBKS, the Royal Challengers posted a video on their official social media sites. The film included footage from RCB’s training sessions, with du Plessis and Kohli discussing the squad’s makeup ahead of the competition.

Anuj Rawat, a 22-year-old left-handed batsman, made his IPL debut with Rajasthan Royals last year and plays domestic cricket for Delhi.

During the meetings, both du Plessis and Kohli were asked about the players they were “most enthusiastic” about heading into the season, and while they both listed a few names, one name stood out: Indian teenager Anuj Rawat.

“Anuj, that’s something I’m looking forward to,” du Plessis remarked. “He’s a dynamic young left-handed pitcher.” As for Akash, he’s a brand newcomer, yet there’s something there. I enjoy dealing with young people because of their raw talent.”

However, Kohli pointed out Wanindu Hasaranga of Sri Lanka and Anuj as two players he sees as interesting possibilities for the season ahead. Kohli went on to say that the Indian teenager had “breakthrough talent.”

“I’m overly happy about Wanindu; I believe he can come into his own.” He owns the necessary abilities to have a very steady season.

“Anuj is yet another one who has a lot of potential. (He has) the makings of a breakout season. “These are the names I consider,” Kohli remarked.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will play Punjab Kings at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai later today to kick off their 2022 Indian Premier League campaign.
