IPL 2022: Rahmanullah Gurbaz Added To Gujarat Titans Squad As Replacement For Jason Roy

Afghanistan team’s explosive wicket-keeper batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz has been roped in by Gujarat Titans (GT) as a replacement for England opener, Jason Roy, ahead of the IPL 2022 season.
Roy had pulled out of the league due to unwillingness to stay for prolonged periods of time inside bio-bubbles. He wanted to focus on his mental health and opted to take an indefinite break from cricket.
Roy was bought by GT for his base price of INR 2 crores in the IPL 2022 mega auction. Since he will not participate, GT was on the lookout for a replacement and they have found a suitable one in Gurbaz.

The 20-year-old youngster has played 20 T20Is for the Afghan team and has scored 534 runs at a strike rate of 138. His base price was at INR 50 lakhs and GT has managed to pick him up for the same price.
“Gurbaz, who joins Gujarat Titans at his base price of INR 50 Lakh, will be the third Afghanistan cricketer alongside Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad to feature for the franchise,” an official statement from the IPL site read.
Gurbaz has already played across various leagues. He was part of the Khulna Tigers in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Kandy Tuskers in Lanka Premier League (LPL), and Multan Sultans and Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
