Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming shrugged down worries about the former skipper’s batting form in IPL 2022 after Ravindra Jadeja struggled to get going in a critical 174-run chase against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the MCA Stadium in Pune.

Ravindra Jadeja, who stepped down as captain in the middle of the season, has struggled with the bat, scoring just 116 runs in ten games for the defending champions.

Despite a brilliant start from starters Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, who came in at No. 6, scored only 3 runs from 5 deliveries as CSK’s chase was disrupted. In the 16th over, Jadeja was caught trying to smash fast bowler Harshal Patel into the stand. After a top-edge from his bat exploded into the night sky on Wednesday, Jadeja reached Virat Kohli at mid-off.

In IPL 2022, Jadeja has found it hard to find his stride, scoring just 116 runs in ten games. After a pair of great campaigns with the bat for CSK, his performance has dipped, which is the reason for concern.

Interestingly, Jadeja recently resigned as CSK captain barely eight games into the season, handing over the responsibilities to MS Dhoni, indicating that the pressures of captaincy had taken their toll on Jadeja.

‘I am not concerned, T20 game can be tough’: Stephen Fleming

In IPL 2022, the all-rounder has not yet appeared impressed with the batting, but Stephen Fleming said it’s difficult for somebody coming in at No. 6 to get into a flow right away.

“I’m not worried; a T20 game may be challenging. When you bat at No. 5 or No. 6, you don’t have much time to perfect your rhythm or technique. We’ll have a look at it right now and figure out what the ideal order is for the future, but I’m not concerned about his form “ Stephen Fleming said.

In their first ten games, the reigning champions had only managed three victories. CSK’s chances of making the playoffs are almost zero.
