Imran Tahir, a South African leg-spinner, has criticized the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) IPL 2022 struggles on the lack of their batting giants.

The 43-year-old predicted that the franchise would face difficulty if Virat Kohli, skipper Faf du Plessis, and Glenn Maxwell continued to put in poor outings.

Kohli, the former captain, has scored 186 runs in ten games at an average of 20.67 and a strike rate of 116.25. Du Plessis, the new captain, has two stunning half-centuries but has not played a significant role in any of the remaining games. Maxwell, an Australian batting all-rounder, has only one fifty in seven games despite an exceptional strike rate of 178.41.

Imran Tahir stated ESPNcricinfo that the three big guns have to strike with the batting if RCB were to win the game. He elaborated:

“It’s evident that the squad would be on the backfoot if three major names (Kohli, Faf, and Maxwell) aren’t dominating. For better outcomes, I think that players should devote some more time a lot the wicket. If the three fail again, Dinesh Karthik, who’s been doing an amazing job with the bats in the lower order, would bear a lot of the blame.”

Imran Tahir supports Harshal Patel to do well:

Bangalore’s bowling has been hampered by the failure of the previous season’s Purple Cap winner Harshal Patel to come up to the hype. Imran Tahir, on the other hand, believes the 31-year-old can succeed based on his experience and ability. He said this regarding RCB’s bowling unit:

“Harshal Patel is a quality bowler with a track record of success. When things aren’t going well, everybody goes through all these stages. He can, however, regain his flow at any time. He’s been there before.”

“Simultaneously time, the youth must rise to the occasion. Mohammed Siraj is a controversial figure, yet he will offer you anything you want. Wanindu Hasaranga and Josh Hazlewood are performing admirably, which bodes well for RCB.” Imran Tahir Added.

Royal Challengers Bangalore takes on the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Pune on Wednesday, they will be looking to break a three-match losing streak.
