Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra believes the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) merely need to win the Gujarat Titans (GT) in their IPL 2022 match tonight to remain in contention for the playoffs.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore have won seven of their 13 games thus far and are tied with the Delhi Capitals in the standings (DC). DC, on the other hand, has a far better run rate and may expect to win their final game against the Mumbai Indians.
As a result, the 44-year-old thinks RCB must go for broke against GT. Here’s what Aakash Chopra would have to comment about Bengaluru’s playoff hopes in a video on his YouTube channel:
“If RCB wins tonight, they will have 16 points and a chance to qualify for the playoffs. Even though, qualifying isn’t guaranteed, DC may reach the 16 points with a win over Mumbai in their final game. So they’ll have to concentrate on their net run rate, but first think about getting to 16. With only 14 points, they are almost certain to miss out on qualifying.”
Aakash Chopra discusses RCB’s unsatisfactory batting:
Aakash Chopra believes that players like Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell, and Virat Kohli haven’t had more of an influence on their team at the moment.
The 44-year-old believes this is why Bengaluru is in such a vulnerable position and will require one of its key players to stand up. He stated:
“In the early stages of the season, RCB played some excellent cricket and appeared to have a good balance. However, here comes a point in every competition where your quality players must perform. When players like Kohli, Faf, and Maxwell fail to score runs, your chances at winning diminish.”
In the Tata IPL’s 67th game, Royal Challengers Bangalore will face Gujarat Titans for the second time this season.
