Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga revealed the reason behind his animated celebrations on the field after picking every wicket.
Hasaranga claimed 4/20 against Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday to help RCB register a narrowly three-wicket win at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

Hasaranga got the wicket of KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer in his very first over as the batter went to play a big shot but found Faf du Plessis at long-on. The Sri Lankan leg-spinner picked successive wickets of Sunil Narine and Sheldon Jackson in his next over. Hasaranga got Tim Southee caught at long-on once again by the RCB skipper to finish his excellent spell with 4/20.
My favorite footballer is Neymar: Wanindu Hasaranga on his celebration style
Despite some late hitting by Umesh Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy, RCB bowled out KKR at 128 in the first innings. Hasaranga imitated Brazilian football star Neymar’s Hang Loose celebration after picking every wicket against KKR. Hasaranga stood like a statue with his hand placed crossed on his chest and the middle and index fingers curled like a rap artist.
The Sri Lankan all-rounder admitted that he is a big fan of the Brazil and Paris Saint-Germain star and would often emulate his celebration style.
“Crucial situation, I got only four (runs) and got out. I am really happy. Specially with the dew it is very hard to bowl,” Hasaranga, the player of the match, said in the post-match presentation ceremony.
“My favorite footballer is Neymar and that is his celebration which I do. When I go play, I don’t take any pressure. That’s why I feel I got success,” he added.
RCB chased the target in the final over after they slumped at the start of the innings. Wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik hit a six and a four off the first two balls bowled by Andre Russell to take his side to the finish line.
RCB will play their next fixture against Rajasthan Royals on April 5 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
