Rishabh Pant, Prithvi Shaw, Axar Patel, And Anrich Nortje Retained By Delhi Capitals (DC) For IPL 2022. Delhi Capitals have announced their retentions list for IPL 2022. The franchise has named 4 players in their retentions list who will be part of the squad in the next edition as well. IPL 2022 is going to observe 10 teams battling against each other. Lucknow and Ahmedabad are the 2 new franchises who will also be part of the next year’s season.

Ahead of IPL 2022, a mega auction will also take place. Ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction, all the current 8 teams were asked to retain a maximum of 4 players in their squad. These 4 players can be a combination of 2 overseas players and 2 domestic players or 3 domestic players and 1 overseas player. Teams were allowed to retain 1, 2, 3, 4, or 0 players according to their choice.

Delhi Capitals Announces IPL 2022 Retentions List

Delhi Capitals, who finished on the 3rd spot in IPL 2021, have retained 4 players in their squad. Rishabh Pant, Prithvi Shaw, and Axar Patel are the 3 domestic players that the team has retained. Anrich Nortje is the overseas player that Delhi Capitals have retained for next season.

Delhi Capitals gave an outstanding show in IPL 2021. The team finished on the top spot in the points table after the league stage. Out of 14 games, Delhi Capitals won 10 matches and lost 4, earining most 20 points. However, they lost to Chennai Super Kings in Qualifier 1 and Kolkata Knight Riders in Qualifier 2. Hence, they could not make it to the finals.

Now, after the announcement of the retentions list by the 8 teams, the 2 new franchises Ahmedabad and Lucknow will be allowed to pick 3 players from the pool of released players. These 3 players will directly become part of the new franchises. The 3 players can be a combination of 2 domestic and 1 overseas player.

Every team will set a salary purse of Rs. 90 crore during IPL 2022 mega auction. Last year, the amount was Rs. 85 crores. Due to retentions, the teams will lose some amount from this salary purse. Teams that retain 4 players will lose Rs. 42 crore from their salary cap. Teams that retained 3 players, Rs. 33 crore will be deducted from their total salary purse.

Rs. 24 crore will be deducted from teams with 2 retentions while Rs. 14 crore will be reduced from teams with 1 retention. If the 1 retention is an uncapped player, Rs. 4 crore will be deducted from the salary cap. Meanwhile, IPL 2022 mega auction is expected to take place in the first week of January 2022.
