Rajasthan Royals (RR) got off to a brilliant start in their defence of 218 when Shimron Hetmyer nailed a direct hit to run out Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opener, Sunil Narine, on the first ball of the innings.
RR set a daunting target of 218 courtesy of Jos Buttler’s 2nd hundred of the IPL 2022 season. He smashed nine fours and five sixes in a 61-ball 103 and helped Rajasthan post a massive total.
The regular opener, Venkatesh Iyer was demoted to the middle order and Narine was sent out to open alongside Aaron Finch as the pinch-hitter. Unfortunately, Narine had to walk back even before facing a ball.
Finch defended Trent Boult’s delivery onto the offside and set off for a non-existent run. Hetmyer ran in from point and darted in an accurate throw to catch Narine well short of the crease.
