Kumar Sangakkara said it is difficult to put into words what Jos Buttler has done for the franchise this season.

In Qualifier 2 of the ongoing IPL 2022 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday, Rajasthan Royal’s opening batsman was at his blistering finest against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The right-handed batter batted unbeaten for 106 runs to assist Rajasthan to hunt down 158 with seven wickets in hand and 11 balls to spare. Rajasthan has qualified for the IPL 2022 final, in which they will face Gujarat Titans on Sunday at the same venue.
Buttler has four centuries in the current edition, making him only the second batter after Virat Kohli to score four hundred in a single tournament.

‘It’s difficult to put into words what he’s done for us this season: Kumar Sangakkara

At a post-game press conference, RR Director of Cricket Kumar Sangakkara stated that it is difficult to put into words what Buttler has accomplished for the franchise this season and that he cannot recall anybody else hitting the ball this well in the tournament’s history.

“It’s difficult to put into words what he’s done for us this season in terms of T20 batsman. He began off so well, that he had a little flicker at one moment in the tournament, but then he settled down and also had a lot of positive conversations instead of just training.”

“He acknowledged that he is a mortal, a human, and that he cannot maintain that degree of quality every day,” Kumar Sangakkara said.

“He can speed up at any time; he will have all of the strokes. He’s a nice guy who knows a lot about the game. I can’t recall anyone batting this well in IPL history,” he added.

So far this season, Rajasthan Royals opener Jos Buttler has 824 runs in 16 games, including a record-equaling four centuries.
