Maharashtra opener Ruturaj Gaikwad has joined the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) camp which is being held in the Gujarat city of Surat, ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) on March 16, 2022.

The Chennai Super Kings-led by MS Dhoni has been practicing at the Lalbhai Contractor Stadium in Surat for the past two weeks. CSK players including the likes of Ambati Rayudu and Robin Uthappa have also joined the camp along with several other players who were bought in the IPL 2022 mega auction.

Ahead of the season-opener, where CSK face two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on March 26, there were doubts about Ruturaj’s fitness. Ruturaj had hurt his right wrist ahead of the T20I series against Sri Lanka and had to be ruled out of the entire three T20I matches.

Ruturaj Gaikwad Joins CSK Camp Bringing A Huge Relief For The Defending Champions

The 25-year-old Ruturaj Gaikwad was at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru and has recovered just in time before CSK’s first game (at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai). The official Twitter handle of the CSK franchise shared an update after Ruturaj Gaikwad left Bengaluru for Surat to join CSK’s camp. The team will leave for Mumbai on March 24 before their match against Kolkata Knight Riders on March 26.

Here is the post:

Ruturaj was retained by the four-time winners CSK before the mega auction, held in Bengaluru in mid-February. He was a shining light for the yellow army during their dismal IPL 2020 season. He turned things around in the IPL 2021, where he amassed 635 runs and ended with the Orange Cap in MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings’ fourth title win.

The right-hander will hope for a repeat of the IPL 2021 season, especially with the selection for the T0 World Cup 2022 in Australia hovering around.

Chennai Super Kings have long begun their preparations with their very own camp in Surat. The likes of captain MS Dhoni, Dwayne Bravo, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Ambati Rayudu, and Co. have all made the trip in a bid to get in shape and rhythm ahead of the new season.
