Sam Billings Bought By Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) For INR 2 Crore In IPL 2022 Mega Auction

England wicketkeeper-batsman Sam Billings was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for INR 2 crore at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction on the second and final day of the event in Bengaluru on Sunday, February 13.

The 30-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman had previously played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in the marquee Indian Premier League (IPL).

So far, Sam Billings has played 22 games in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has scored just 334 runs in the cash-rich league at an underwhelming average of 17.6 and a strike rate of 133.6. Behind the stumps, he has managed to pick 13 catches in the IPL.

In the first round of the Indian Premier League mega auction, the England wicketkeeper-batsman Sam Billings has gone unsold. However, in the second round, he was picked by Kolkata Knight Riders at his base price of INR 2 crore.

With the addition of Sam Billings to the squad, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) now have three wicket-keepers in the squad as the other two wicket-keepers in the team are Baba Indrajith, who was bought for INR 20 lakh, and Sheldon Jackson, who was bought for INR 60 lakh.

On day 1 of the mega auction, Kolkata Knight Riders had bought Indian middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer and Australian Test captain Pat Cummins for a whopping INR 12.5 crore and INR 7.25 crore respectively.
