Shreyas Iyer Bought By Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) For INR 12.25 Crores In IPL 2022 Mega Auction

Shreyas Iyer was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2022 auction. The franchise bought the player for a massive amount of Rs. 12.25 crores. Gujarat Titans and Kolkata Knight Riders engaged in a nail-biting war to bag the right-handed batsman. However, KKR was the eventual winnner.
Ahead of the auction, Shreyas Iyer had set a base price of Rs. 2 crore. Iyer was part of Delhi Capitals in the previous season. He is one of the best middle-order batsmen in Indian Premier League. The right-handed batsman made an entry into IPL 2013 season.
He was part of Mumbai Indians from season 2013 to 2014. However, he did not play any match for the team. In IPL 2015, Delhi Daredevils picked him in their squad. He rose to fame by slamming 439 runs in 14 games at an average of 33.76 and 4 half-centuries. Delhi Capitals continued to retain him in subsequent seasons.

After Gautam Gambhir stepped down as the team’s skipper midway during the 2018 season, Shreyas Iyer was promoted as the captain. Under his leadership, Iyer led Delhi Capitals to the finals in the 2020 season.
