Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) continued their newfound momentum to register 3rd victory in a row, this time against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Brabourne Stadium on Friday.

Kolkata was put in to bat first. They brought in Aaron Finch into the playing XI but it didn’t work out as he fell for 7. Venkatesh Iyer flopped once again. Shreyas Iyer and Nitish Rana rebuilt the innings with the latter finding form.

Nitish fell as Kolkata approached the death overs but Andre Russell ensured that they put a fighting total of 175 on the board with a 25-ball 49 that included 4 fours and as many sixes.

In the reply, SRH was jolted early with Abhishek Sharma falling for 3. Kane Williamson was also dismissed for a 16-ball 17 but the match-winning partnership came between Rahul Tripathi and Aiden Markram.

The duo put on 94 runs for the 3rd wicket with Tripathi smashing a 37-ball 71. He did most of the work until he fell, following which Markram took over and helped himself to a 36-ball 68.

With the win, Sunrisers moved up to 7th place with 3 wins in 5 matches. As for Kolkata, they dropped down to 4th from the 2nd position as their net run rate took quite a hit after the 7-wicket loss.
