Twitter Reacts As Ambati Rayudu Gets Dropped From CSK's Playing XI Right After Retirement Fiasco

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) proceeded to drop their batter Ambati Rayudu in their IPL 2022 match against the Gujarat Titans (GT), just a day after the latter’s controversial statement on retirement.

On Saturday afternoon, Rayudu tweeted that he will be retiring from the IPL after the completion of the ongoing season. He proceeded to thank CSK and Mumbai Indians (MI), the two franchises he has played for.

I am happy to announce that this will be my last ipl. I have had a wonderful time playing it and being a part of 2 great teams for 13 years. Would love to sincerely thank Mumbai Indians and CSK for the wonderful journey,” Rayudu had tweeted.

However, moments later, Rayudu withdrew his statement and deleted the message on Twitter. The decision left the cricketing fraternity confused before CSK’s CEO revealed that he will be continuing.

I can confirm that Ambati Rayudu is not retiring from IPL. Yes, he did tweet about it. Maybe it was in an emotional state he tweeted. He has been spoken to and subsequently deleted the tweet,” CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan told PTI.

This led to rising rumors claiming that there is unrest in the CSK camp, the second such incident after Ravindra Jadeja was also removed from captaincy after a poor season.

This is the second such time Rayudu has fiddled around with his retirement. He announced that he will be quitting international cricket in July 2019 but made himself available from the very next month.

Rayudu has won the IPL trophy as many as five times – thrice with MI and twice with CSK. His best season came in CSK’s title-winning campaign in 2018 where he scored over 600 runs for the franchise.
