IPL 2022 Auction: Who Is Yash Dayal, The Uncapped Bowler Bought By Gujarat Titans For INR 3.2 Crores?
Yash Dayal is an Indian cricketer who bats left-handed and bowls left-arm fast-medium and hails from Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh.
He made his List A debut for Uttar Pradesh against Chattisgarh in the 2018-19 Vijay Hazare Trophy. Dayal had a decent outing in the tournament despite UP winning only one out of their eight games.
Soon after, he turned up for his first-class debut against Goa in the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy. The UP team made it to the quarterfinals in that edition but they lost to Saurashtra by six wickets.
Dayal had made an impact by then and he soon made his official T20 debut in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2019. Dayal was also part of the India ODI squad against West Indies as a backup option.
He had given his maiden audition back in 2019 with the Mumbai Indians. Dayal was also one of the top-5 wicket-takers in the 2021-22 Vijay Hazare Trophy where he took 14 wickets in seven matches.
Yash Dayal’s stats so far
So far in his career, he has played 12 matches in FC, taking 45 wickets with a best of 5/48. In List A, he has taken 23 wickets in 14 matches and 15 wickets in 15 T20 matches.
His performances have managed to bag him a humongous IPL contract with Gujarat Titans. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) made the opening bid but backed out once Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) pushed it past INR 80 lakhs.
The Titans then joined in and both RCB and GT went head-to-head, neither willing to let go of the 24-year-old. Eventually, the bigger purse of GT came to their rescue as RCB gave up their pursuit. The winning bid for Dayal was INR 3.2 crores.
