Punjab Kings haven’t got their act together yet and they have an uphill road ahead with their upcoming fixture against the defending champions Mumbai Indians. The change of name hasn’t been effective yet and they are facing the same kind of problems they had over the years.

The lack of quality all-rounders and bowlers who can bat a little bit has been the main drawback for the Punjab Kings. They tried out Fabien Allen and Moises Henriques in the previous game, but it could not change the fortunes.

Mayank Agarwal:

Mayank Agarwal did justice to his backing with a couple of good knocks in the previous two games. He was totally out of form in the first two games of the season and Punjab looked like they had all sorts of problems. But his form has become a positive for them and now they will need the other batsman to step up.

Mayank Agarwal has scored 105 runs in 4 games so far and he got a start in the previous innings with 22 but could not convert it to a big score. He is due for a big score and has looked in good touch.

He can strike the long balls and get the game under his control in quick time. Punjab will need him to fire at the top as KL Rahul has been playing a different role and Agarwal will be one of the game-changers.

Deepak Hooda:

Deepak Hooda started off the season with a bang but couldn’t continue his good form and has perished for low scores in the last two games. He scored a brilliant fifty in the opening game against Royals and twice after, he has been dismissed in the 20s. He must start converting the 20s into 40s and contribute a little more.

Hooda also bowled four overs in the last game and was very economical giving away just 22 runs. He did not pick up a wicket but put a halt on the scoring board and he is playing a big role for Punjab at number four. He has shown a lot of potential and maturity in the season, and this is the time for him to cut loose and have a big season. He will be a game-changer for the Punjab Kings.

Mohammad Shami:

Mohammad Shami hasn’t delivered enough for the Punjab Kings and a lot will rely on his shoulders if the bowling department has to do well. Arshdeep Singh has been the standout bowler for Punjab so far in the tournament and he would like to get good company from his bowling partner Mohammad Shami at the other end.

Shami is coming off an injury and when he gets his rhythm going, he takes a lot of wickets and can be very dangerous too. He has a very good seam position that can trouble any batsman in the world and the onus will be on him to deliver good performances for the Punjab side.

He picked up a lot of wickets in the previous edition and if he can start getting early wickets for Punjab in the powerplay, he will be a game-changer for the Punjab Kings side.
