Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians have been the most dominant teams in IPL with a combined 8 title wins overall despite the franchises picking up different players in the auction year by year. It is not easy to be part of the winning team consistently but there have been players that have won titles for more than one franchise.

Those players bring a lot of value to the team and are backed continuously by the franchises. Mumbai Indians have won five titles so far and are the most successful team in the IPL while Chennai Super Kings stand second on the tally with three titles in their bank. Here are five players who won the IPL title with both Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians.

The Indian leg spinner Karn Sharma has won two titles overall with Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. He was one of those rare players to win three IPL titles in a row from 2016 to 2018 but for three different teams. He was part of the winning team for SRH in 2016, then for the Mumbai Indians in 2017, and for the CSK in 2018.

He is still part of the CSK franchise that has a lot of spinners on the team and has been benched on most of the occasions. Karn Sharma is a handy batsman down the order and he has shown that he can hit the long balls. He has played 68 IPL games and has taken 59 wickets in his IPL career at an economy of 7.90.

The New Zealand fast bowler Tim Southee had won two titles with Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. Southee was part of the CSK franchise in 2011 where they won the IPL for the second consecutive time and it was the first IPL trophy for Southee. He performed decently but was released after the season from CSK.

Southee was picked by Mumbai Indians for the 2016 IPL and he went on to be part of the title-winning campaign in 2017 under the leadership of Rohit Sharma. He has played 40 IPL games and picked up 28 wickets at an economy rate of 8.73 which wasn’t good enough for the IPL standards.

The Indian wicket-keeper has now retired from the IPL and is part of the scout recruitment team in the Mumbai Indians. He was part of various franchises in the past and he has won three titles with Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians combined.

Parthiv Patel was part of the winning squad in 2010 for CSK and then played a crucial role in 2015 and 2017’s title-winning campaigns for Mumbai Indians. He has played 139 IPL games and has scored 2848 runs at a strike rate of 120.8. He is more suited to play at the top order and was benched by the RCB franchise in the last edition.

The veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has won four titles combinedly with Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians in his IPL career. He is part of the Kolkata Knight Riders in the upcoming edition and won his first IPL title in 2013 for the Mumbai Indians.

He then went on to win two more titles for Mumbai in 2015 and 2017 but wasn’t retained ahead of the mega auction. Harbhajan, then went on to play for the CSK team in 2018 and won an IPL title with them for the fourth time overall. He was released by CSK ahead of the auction this year.

The Indian right-hander Ambati Rayudu has been part of four title-winning campaigns combined with Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. Rayudu was a regular feature in the Mumbai team until 2017 and was part of the winning team in 2013, 2015, and 2017.

He was then picked up by Chennai in the 2018 auction and he provided the much-needed impetus to the franchise and played a crucial role in their title win again. He is still part of the CSK franchise and could be in line for a fifth title this year in the upcoming edition.
