Anil Kumble Is A Legend And An Institution Of Spin-Bowling: Jalaj Saxena

Punjab Kings all-rounder Jalaj Saxena will most likely play his first IPL game in the upcoming edition. Jalaj Saxena, a seasoned domestic veteran, has been part of Delhi Daredevils, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore has been unfortunate enough to get an opportunity. The 34-year hopes to script a title-win for Punjab Kings and feels fortunate to be coached by Anil Kumble.

Anil Kumble secured his head first coaching stint in IPL 2020, having already served as Mumbai Indians’ mentor previously. Though Kings XI Punjab largely struggled under Kumble’s watch, the franchise bounced back to record five straight victories after a string of losses that put them on the brink of elimination. Yet, Punjab Kings could not reach the playoffs, but the owners retained the 132-Test veteran as a coach.

Jalaj Saxena stated he feels fortunate to play under Anil Kumble, who he feels is a legend and an institution when it comes to spin-bowling. The 34-year old conceded he has so much to learn from Kumble and looks forward to doing it. Saxena also aims to make significant contributions and to lead Punjab Kings to their maiden IPL trophy.

“I feel I’m very fortunate to play under Anil Kumble (coach). Anil sir is a legend and if I talk about spin. he’s an institution. There will be so much to learn from him and I’m looking forward to it. Hope I learn many things. We lifting the trophy and me contributing. That’s one thing I dream of. It’s a result-oriented thing, but if we can focus on the process the results will come,” Saxena told News18.

Jalaj Saxena further said that he tries to keep learning skills and updating himself and talked about working on the carrom ball. The Indore-born cricketer claimed that he tries to master the variations as it helps a player grow. He feels that getting selected by IPL franchises are the result of learning new variations constantly.

I like to update myself every year, I try to keep learning new things. I’ve been working on the carrom ball since long. Not just that, there are many variations that I try to keep learning. It’s always good to learn new things. You shouldn’t be stagnant. That’s what I’ve been doing, these are the rewards, that I’m getting selected for IPL franchises again. So I like to stay updated and keep learning new things,” he added.
