CSK vs KKR- 3 CSK Players To Look Out For. One of the most successful teams in the history of the Indian Premier League, Chennai Super Kings will be playing yet another IPL final on Friday at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. This is the ninth time in 14 editions when CSK have reached the finals. They made it to the summit clash this year after beating Delhi Capitals by 6 wickets in Qualifier 1.

Chennai Super Kings endured an underwhelming performance last season, finishing at second from the bottom of the table, managing only 6 wins in 14 matches. The majority of the cricket pundits predicted a similar fate for the yellow army in IPL 2021 as well. However, MS Dhoni and Co. defied all odds and produced a sensational all-around performance to finish at the second position on the points table after the league stage.

CSK made a few notable inclusions this year and it helped to great effect. Their depth in the batting unit has helped them post big totals. The decision to send Moeen Ali to send at number three proved to be a masterstroke.

The presence of all-rounders in the team has helped them provide a great balance to the unit. Ahead of the most important encounter against KKR on Friday, here’s a look at three CSK players to watch out for.

Ruturaj Gaikwad showed glimpses of his brilliance in the second half of the last season. This year, the fans got to see his real potential with the bat. The CSK opener has reminded everyone that even proper cricketing shots can also help you excel in T20 cricket. Gaikwad, this season, has played some heart-warming knocks, which involved a lot of elegance and class.

Gaikwad has not only given CSK good starts in the powerplay and but also ensured that he plays long and capitalize the starts in the middle-overs. The kind of maturity he has shown has been a joy to watch. Gaikwad has scored the second-most number of runs this season. In 15 matches, he has managed to score 603 runs at a strike rate of close to 140. Gaikwad is just 23 runs shy short of reaching KL Rahul’s tally of 626 runs, who currently leads the run charts.

Faf du Plessis

CSK’s opening pair of Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad has done the bulk of scoring for the franchise this season. Du Plessis has shared a vital partnership with Gaikwad at the top of the order, helping the side set a great platform.

Faf du Plessis has shown great consistency this year, something which was lacking last year. More importantly, he has paced his innings brilliantly, ensuring that he converts great starts to big scores. Faf du Plessis has scored five-half centuries this season, third-most this season. Overall, he has scored 547 runs in 15 matches at an average of over 40.

There’s no doubt that Du Plessis is going to be key to CSK’s fortune on Friday. Keeping in mind CSK’S middle-order woes, he ought to deliver in the big game against a brilliant bowling attack of KKR.

The last time when Chennai Super Kings played against Kolkata Knight Riders, Ravindra Jadeja smashed two sixes and two fours in the penultimate over to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. His 8-ball 22-run cameo helped the side register a two-wicket win over KKR. He was equally effective with the ball, giving away just 21 runs in 4 overs for 1 wicket.

Jadeja has played several match-defining cameos lower down the order for CSK this year. Keeping in mind, MS Dhoni’s struggle against spin, Jadeja might bat up the order on Friday.

His role is certainly going to be crucial with both bat and ball. Ravindra Jadeja loves performing on the big stage and one can expect him to deliver another match-defining contribution from him.

For the unversed, Ravindra Jadeja averages a staggering 75.67 with the bat this year. He has managed to score 227 runs at a strike rate of 145.51. With the ball, he has claimed 15 wickets in 11 matches.
