Despite losing their last game at the hands of RR, Chennai Super Kings are still sitting at the top of the table with 9 wins in 12 matches. Chennai have two games left and need to win both of them to assure themselves of the top-spot finish. CSK played their last game against RR without the services of Dwayne Bravo and Deepak Chahar. They missed them dearly as Rajasthan Royals took the CSK’s bowling attack to the cleaners.

Despite registering a mammoth 189-run total in the first innings, Rajasthan Royals won the game in just 17.3 overs. The likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shivam Dube ripped apart CSK’s bowling attack. Barring Shardul Thakur, all the CSK bowlers went for runs at an economy of more than 8.

Josh Hazlewood went for more than 13 runs an over. Sam Curran too conceded 55 runs in his quota of four overs. Ahead of the match against DC, Dhoni is likely to bring back Dwayne Bravo and Deepak Chahar to strengthen the pace attack. Their batting unit, though, looks quite sorted. Ruturaj Gaikwad played a sensational knock in the first innings.

He exhibited a brilliant display of ball-striking, hitting 9 fours and 5 sixes during his 101-run knock off 60 balls. Ruturaj scored his maiden century in IPL and with the help of that, CSK notched 189 runs in the first innings. Ravindra Jadeja also played a crucial 15-ball 32-run cameo to give the late flourish needed in the end.

Delhi Capitals:

Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, are sitting at second position with 9 wins in 12 matches. They would be riding high on confidence, having secured a four-wicket win over defending champions in the last game. A great bowling effort from the team restricted MI to just 129 runs in the first innings.

Once again, Avesh Khan starred with the ball, picking 3 wickets for just 15 runs in his four overs, including the crucial wicket of Rohit Sharma. Axar Patel was also brilliant in the middle overs as he denied MI to develop partnerships by taking regular intervals. Patel picked 3 for 21 runs in 4 overs.

Delhi Capitals didn’t start off too well with the bat, having lost their top three wickets for 30 runs inside 4.1 overs. Rishabh Pant looked solid for his 22-ball 26 before getting out in the ninth over. The comeback man, Shreyas Iyer, however, held firm and guided the team home with an unbeaten 33-run knock in as many deliveries.

He stitched an unbeaten 39-run partnership alongside Ashwin to take the game from MI. Delhi would look to win the next two games and carry the winning momentum into the playoffs.

Ahead of the next game against CSK, expect them not to make any changes to their playing XI.
