They restricted Sunrisers Hyderabad to 134 runs in the first innings, thanks to the impressive spells from Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje and Axar Patel. Unfortunately, Marcus Stoinis pulled his hamstring during the innings and didn’t bowl thereafter. Delhi didn’t face a lot of trouble chasing down the score. Vital contributions from the top four helped the side reach home in just 17.5 overs.

Delhi Capitals have an exciting clash coming up against Rajasthan Royals and they would be preparing accordingly. On that note, here’s a look at their predicted playing XI for the match.

Openers: Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw

Shikhar Dhawan has continued his great run of form in the UAE. In his first match of the second leg against SRH, Dhawan played a calm and composed 42-run knock off 37 balls, including 6 fours and 1 six. His knock helped the side register an 8-wicket win.

Prithvi Shaw, on the other hand, got out after scoring 11 off 8 deliveries, including 2 fours. Shaw was in exemplary form in the India leg of the tournament and one can expect him to come good against Rajasthan Royals.

Middle Order: Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Shimron Hetmyer

Shreyas Iyer made a comeback in the last game against SRH. Coming in at number three, he held the fort at one end and guided the side to a comfortable win. Iyer scored an unbeaten 47 off 41 balls, including 2 fours and as many sixes. Having been excluded from the T20 World Cup squad, Shreyas Iyer has a point to prove.

He would be keen to score consistently from here on. Shikhar Dhawan should come at number four in the line-up. He struck three fours and 2 sixes in his unbeaten 35-run knock off 21 balls in the last game against SRH.

Amongst of all the players in Delhi Capitals’ squad, Rishabh Pant has scored the most runs against Rajasthan Royals. Shimron Hetmyer will come at number five. He didn’t get the opportunity to bat in the last game but has been in great touch. Hetmyer played a couple of great knocks in the India leg of IPL 2021 and would be hoping that he gets a few opportunities here in UAE.

All-rounders: Lalit Yadav, Axar Patel

Shimron Hetymer pulled his hamstring while bowling against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last game. As a result of that, he did not take part in the rest of the match. Stoinis is likely to miss out on the next game and Lalit Yadav should replace him in the eleven. Yadav made his debut this season for DC. In 5 matches, he has managed to score 54 runs and take 3 wickets.

Axar Patel should come at number seven in the batting order. He was brilliant in the last game with the bat. The Delhi Capitals spinners picked two crucial wickets of Kane Williamson and Jason Holder and gave away only 21 runs in his quota of four overs.

Bowlers: Ravichandran Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje and Avesh Khan

Delhi Capitals played three seamers in the last game and are likely to persist with them in the next game as well. Anrich Nortje played his first game of this season against SRH on Wednesday. He picked two wickets for only 12 runs in his four overs. Kagiso Rabada picked 3 for 37 in his four overs, while Avesh Khan gave away 27 runs in his quota of overs.

Ravi Ashwin had a forgettable day at the office as he went for 22 runs in 2.5 overs.
