Rishabh Pant has been named as the captain of the Delhi Capitals team in the absence of the injured Shreyas Iyer and he will be marshalling the troops.

Kagiso Rabada:

Kagiso Rabada has been the main bowler for Delhi Capitals in the last two years and has taken plenty of wickets for the franchise. He has been a sensational buy for Delhi and has led the pace attack brilliantly. He finished as the highest wicket-taker in the tournament in the IPL 2020 with 30 wickets to his name overall and bagged the purple cap.

The 25-year-old has played 35 IPL games so far and has picked up 61 wickets at an average of 18.1. His number explains the story and has had a great impact in Delhi progressing to the playoffs in the last two seasons. He is expected to form a good partnership with his bowling partner from his nation Anrich Nortje and the two combinedly picked up 52 wickets.

R Ashwin:

R Ashwin will be heading the spin attack that has a lot of experienced campaigners in the wings. Axar Patel, Ashwin, and Amit Mishra form a great spin bowling attack and they will play an important role in defining the results for Delhi Capitals. R Ashwin is one of the best spinners in the world going around.

Ashwin bowled splendidly in the previous edition and picked 13 wickets in the 15 games. He was very tight with his lines and did not concede many in most of the games. Marcus Stoinis had an excellent season with the bat as well as with the ball in the last season. He played the finisher role to perfection and got the team out of trouble on most occasions. He has been in good form in the Big Bash League and his all-round abilities provide the perfect balance in the team.

He can bat in the top order as well as in the middle order and provides an extra option for the captain to bank upon. He finished with 352 runs in 17 games while picking up 13 wickets with the ball too. He was one of the top performers for the team last year and he will have a big role in the upcoming IPL too.

Rishabh Pant:

The new captain will have to fill in the shoes of Shreyas Iyer in the side with his captaincy as well as the batting. Rishabh Pant has been one of the most consistent performers in the IPL in the last three to four years and his attacking game has given him an X-Factor above the other players.

Pant had a mediocre season in the last IPL but he has been in excellent form in recent times for India and he will be looking to continue his good form into the IPL too.
