Punjab Kings (PBKS) will be looking to lift their maiden IPL title this year after spending a lot of money in the IPL auction for the upcoming season. Punjab have made it to the finals of the IPL under the leadership of George Bailey once in 2014 where they lost against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Punjab Kings who had their name changed recently are looking to refresh their campaign have brought in the services of  Australian fast bowlers Jhye Richardson and Rile Meredith for hefty money. They also acquired the services of Tamil Nadu dasher Shahrukh Khan for 5 crores.

5. Spin Duo Coming Good

One of the positives for the Punjab Kings in the IPL 2020 was their spin duo of leg spinners Murugan Ashwin and Ravi Bishnoi who did exceedingly well. They picked a lot of wickets in the middle overs and their economy rate was very impressive despite having very little international experience.

Ravi Bishnoi picked up 12 wickets in 14 games on his maiden IPL season while Tamil Nadu leggie picked up 10 wickets in the 9 games he played. Their partnership in the bowling department will be crucial to Punjab king’s success.

4. Addition Of Overseas Quicks

Punjab Kings have added a lot of depth in their pace bowling department bringing in Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith. The two Aussies can crank up to high speeds and could form the much-needed partnership with Mohammad Shami.

Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith had an impressive outing in the Big Bash League and earned their call-ups to the squad for the New Zealand series. They are relatively young and Punjab Kings will be hoping that their most expensive players come good.

3. Chris Gayle Factor

Chris Gayle will be a massive boost for the Punjab Kings and it was evident in the last season where he had an immediate impact on the team’s performance after coming into the playing XI. He has been recently added to the West Indies T20 squad owing to his good form.

Punjab Kings had an excellent opening pair in the IPL 2020 with the likes of KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal. Both of them had a brilliant season and recorded the highest partnership in the IPL 2020. Kl Rahul bagged the orange cap for the IPL 2020.

Mayank Agarwal was outstanding on the other end too and provided blistering starts for the team. Their maturity in run chases was fascinating to see and the Karnataka duo has a great understanding between them.

Punjab Kings have brought in the services of Shahrukh Khan who is a fearsome finisher in the domestic circuit. He was bagged for 5 crores after an immense battler with the franchises and he can be the right addition along with the likes of Nicholas Pooran.

Pooran is one of the best talents going around in the T20 format and he can provide clinical hitting. If he stays till the end, Punjab will fancy their chances of winning matches and ultimately aim for their maiden IPL trophy.
