Indian Premier League 2021 takes a countdown as the official dates for the tournament have been announced by BCCI on Sunday (March 7). The tournament will commence on April 9, 2021, with the first match between defending champions — Mumbai Indian and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Taking note of the COVID-19 situation, the tournament will be held only in six venues in the country. Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata are the cities that will host the matches.

BCCI has decided to play the tournament behind closed doors at the start, but a call on allowing spectators in the stadium will be taken at a later stage in the tournament.

Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, and Delhi Capitals will compete against each other in IPL 2021. Mumbai Indians are the defending champions of the tournament and aim to win the trophy for the third time in a row.

IPL has been a crucial stage for young cricketers as the tournament gives them a stage to showcase their talent. Many young cricketers have earned the spotlight from their performances in the Indian Premier League. IPL 2021 auction witnessed many youngers becoming part of the tournament.

Here we will look at the five youngest players who will play in IPL 2021:

Mujeeb Ur Rahman

19-year-old Mujeeb Ur Rahman will play for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2021. The Afghanistan spinner was bought for Rs. 1.5 crore during IPL 2021 auction. This is the third IPL tournament for Mujeeb. The Afghanistan youngster played for Punjab Kings in IPL 2018.

In his first IPL tournament in 2018, Mujeeb Ur Rahman earned accolades with 14 wickets in 11 games. In IPL 2019, he could only play 3 matches which were reduced to 2 matches in IPL 2020. In IPL 2021, Mujeeb is all set to commence his new journey in the tournament with Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Yashasvi Jaiswal

Yashasvi Jaiswal is another youngster who will be part of IPL 2021. The 19-year-old youngster was bought by Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2020 auction for Rs. 2.4 crore. He played 3 matches for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2020 scoring 40 runs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal came to the limelight after he was awarded Man of the Tournament for his good performance in the U-19 World Cup 2019 in South Africa. Jaiswal is a left-handed batsman and a leg-break bowler. He will again represent Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2021.

Akash Singh

Akash Singh was bought by Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2021 auction. The 18-year-old cricketer was bought at his base price of Rs. 20 lakh. Akash Singh is a left-arm pacer who has been part of the U-19 India team in the U-19 Asia Cup 2019. Akash Singh was bought by Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2020 auction too, but he did not get any opportunities to play in the tournament. This time, Rajasthan Royals once again bought the youngster and the franchisee might give him a chance to be part of playing 11.

All-rounder Marco Jansen was bought by Mumbai Indians for Rs. 20 lakh in IPL 2021 auction. The 20-year-old South African cricketer is a right-handed batsman and left-arm pacer. He is yet to make an international debut but has been part of South Africa’s domestic T20 league Mzansi Super League. Marco Jansen’s physique works in his favour as he is 6 foot 8 inches tall. He will be making a debut in IPL 2021 with Mumbai Indians.

Arjun Tendulkar

Arjun Tendulkar is a popular young cricketer who was bought in IPL 2021 auction. Arjun Tendulkar is legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar’s son and he was bought by Mumbai Indians franchisee during IPL 2021 auction. 21-year-old Arjun is a left-arm bowler and left-handed batsman, unlike his father Sachin Tendulkar who is right-handed. He has less chance of making it into playing 11 but Mumbai Indians might give him a chance to play in IPL 2021. He is another youngster who will be seen in IPL 2021.
