Later, Mumbai Indians could only reach 146-9 in 20 overs. Sachin Tendulkar played an amazing knock of 48 runs. Kieron Pollard tried his level-best, in the end, to chase the target, smacking 27 runs off just 10 balls. CSK vs MI Eliminator game in IPL 2012 was a do-or-die match. The losing team had to bid goodbye to the tournament. In the match, Chennai Super Kings gave an amazing batting show in the 1st innings. With Michael Hussey’s 51, S Badrinath’s 47, and MS Dhoni’s unbeaten 51 off just 20 balls, CSK reached a powerful total of 187-5 on the scoreboard.

Later, MI opener Dwayne Smith played a good knock of 38 runs off 22 balls. However, none of the other batsmen could cross 20-plus runs. With good teamwork, while bowling, CSK restricted MI to just 149-9 in the 2nd innings. CSK won the match by 38 runs and moved to the 2nd qualifier game. On the other hand, MI were out of the tournament.
